Welcome to Greenwood Psychotherapy & Consulting
Micki McCarthy MSW,LCSWA, (she/her)
I am an Associate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSWA) at Greenwood Psychotherapy & Consulting, seeing clients in person at our Chapel Hill office and via telehealth throughout North Carolina. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2005, and my Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2026.
I believe you are the expert on your life and your experiences, and you are worthy just as you are. My therapeutic approach is grounded in humanistic, collaborative, strengths-based frameworks. I believe we all exist in relationship to one another, and our lives are shaped by larger societal systems. These systems impact us on deeply personal levels, often creating additional challenges we must navigate. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and I am committed to anti-racist, LGBTQ+-affirming, trauma-informed, intersectional work. I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic treatment models, including Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman principles.
I offer individual therapy for adults 18+ who may be struggling to cope with issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, relationship issues, family conflict, and self-esteem. I also offer couples therapy for partners of all kinds, whether you identify as monogamous, non-monogamous, anywhere in between, or otherwise. I look forward to working with you to help you strengthen your relationships in ways that build trust, respect autonomy, and invite understanding.
When I am not working, I enjoy cooking for loved ones, swing dancing, reading, and practicing yarn crafts.
If this sounds like a good fit, I'd love to connect.
