Melissa Graf, MSW, LCSW (she/her)
Melissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (C011924), Clinical Supervisor, Outpatient Psychotherapist, and founding partner of Greenwood Psychotherapy. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from North Carolina Central University and her Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work.
Melissa believes that the therapeutic relationship is rooted in safety, trust, openness, and collaboration. She utilizes a non-judgmental, holistic, strengths-based approach to explore thought and behavior patterns that may contribute to blocked growth, healing, or self-fulfillment. Melissa believes that all humans have adapted based on a lifetime of experiences and strives to help each person discover acceptance of their unique being, while supporting motivation and goals toward change.
Melissa is passionate about working with adults who are experiencing life transitions, grief, loss, impacts of a serious or terminal illness, trauma, and complicated or painful family dynamics. She utilizes various evidence-based treatment models, including Somatic Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (S.A.F.E. EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys dancing, skiing, being in nature, eating delicious food, and spending time with loved ones, including her spouse, three young adult children, her two beloved pets, dog Millie, and cats Kitten (Hanz) and Vivian.
