Welcome to Greenwood Psychotherapy & Consulting

Maret Ellington, MSW, LCSWA (she/her)

Hello! My name is Maret, I’m an LCSW and outpatient therapist here at Greenwood’s Raleigh office – I’m available for sessions in person or via telehealth.

For a glimpse into my background, I attended UNC Wilmington for my undergraduate studies with a BA in Criminal Justice, a minor in Sociology, and a BA in French. During my time at UNCW, I thoroughly researched and defended a thesis covering intersectional feminism in patriarchal societies as part of the honors scholars program. I then obtained a Master of Social Work at NC State (go pack!!). All of my years in education and as a professional in the field have only deepened my passion for human rights, advocacy, and equity. I believe each of us deserves wellness and safety & it is such an honor to provide the space for healing, comfort, curiosity, self-expression, and exploration.

My practice utilizes a strengths-based approach rooted in empathy & compassion. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities including EMDR, CBT, ACT, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness/somatic interventions. My aim is to empower my clients as they envision, practice their intentions, and achieve their goals towards their well-being.

If you are experiencing big life changes, stressful events, dealing with anxiety or depression, self-doubt, self-judgment, or if you're having a hard time managing emotions, maintaining healthy boundaries, or navigating relationships, I am a good fit for you.

If you have unresolved childhood trauma, have recently experienced trauma, or have had ongoing trauma at any point in your life, my practice is trauma-informed, and there is a path of healing for you in our work together. Thank you for being here :-)
