Welcome to Greenwood Psychotherapy & Consulting
Mackenzie Van Remortel, MA, LMFT (she/her)
Mackenzie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (2374). She earned her undergraduate degree at Bethel University in Minnesota and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.
Mackenzie enjoys working with clients aged 16+, teens, adults, couples (or couples of any kind), and families. She utilizes approaches like EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Attachment, Emotionally Focused Therapy, body/brain connection, behavioral science, and faith-based when desired. Primarily drawing from a relational approach, her work incorporates all aspects of self: physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental. Mackenzie believes that by honoring all parts of yourself, including those that have been hidden, undiscovered, shamed, invalidated, or traumatized, you can find relief for all types of concerns.
Through her comprehensive approach, Mackenzie helps her clients heal from their past and then develop a plan for their future.
Additionally, Mackenzie understands the vulnerability and bravery it takes to start therapy and considers it sacred to work alongside you. She believes that you are the expert of your story and utilizes a collaborative, trauma-informed approach when working with clients. She finds value in using compassion and humor, along with direct and strength-based approaches in her work to awaken your inner-healing power.
By holding the duality between all that you are - the light and the dark, the resilient and the tender - Mackenzie accepts all parts of you with a non-judgmental stance and curiosity.

"Vulnerability Sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and Courage aren't always comfortable, but they're never weakness"
