Welcome to Greenwood Psychotherapy & Consulting

Janie Roe, MSW, LCSW (she/her)

Janie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (C017725). Janie earned her Bachelor of Social Work from North Carolina State University and her Master of Social Work from East Carolina University.

Janie believes that an interplay of factors shapes every human. The power of therapy comes from a deeper understanding of the forces inside and out that shape a person into a unique individual.

Janie finds that the center of psychotherapy is the relationship - the relationship with those in one's life, the relationship with their therapist and the relationship with oneself  Whether you are seeking therapy to find a deeper purpose in your life or are experiencing life challenges in the form of pain, anxiety, depression, loss, conflict, or trauma, Janie is here to help. She is passionate about her practice, and while she uses science-based theories and treatment models, she is creative in her approaches. Her clients' stories are meaningful to her.

Janie has a sense of humor and a practical approach with an appreciation for direct communication. She is empathetic, accepting, and non-judgmental, providing a safe space to unravel the mysteries of self and life. Janie works alongside her clients to identify and cope with feelings, thoughts, and experiences to find a place of greater peace and insight.

In her spare time, Janie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking and enjoying the outdoors, as well as volunteering with local dog shelters.

“You are not your illness. You have an individual story to tell. You have a name, a history, a personality. Staying yourself is part of the battle.”
